Winter has hit Neutral Bay early this year. Temperatures have dropped, and it’s time to seek out delicious comfort food for winter nights.

WingMill Birds and Brews offers a staggering array of chicken wing flavours, many of which are nice and spicy to warm you up in the cold weather. If chicken wings aren’t your speed, you can also enjoy tasty sliders or a delicious full-sized burger. Of course, there is also a huge selection of brews to help wash your food down.
Speaking of spicy food, Indian is another excellent option for a chilly winter night. Famous for its delicious naan, Thar Indian on Military Road is the perfect place to enjoy a hot and spicy meal this winter. With a kid-friendly menu to boot, you can even order in with free delivery if you don’t feel like going out into the cold.
The Oaks Hotel is a Neutral Bay institution all year round. From regular live entertainment and events, to hot meals and the best beers on tap, where else would you want to spend a winter evening?
The restaurant that is two restaurants in one, Jugemu & Shimbashi at 246 Military Road even has two entrances to cater to its two styles of cooking. It’s connected inside, though, so whether you want teppanyaki or soba, you will be catered for. Come for Jugemu, the only restaurant in Sydney to hand make fresh soba noodles every day, or Shimbashi for chef Kota Takahashi and his expertise in the art of the Japanese pancake.
For a different East Asian experience and a switch from American BBQ, try K-Town Korean BBQ on Young Street, Neutral Bay. Brighten up a winter night in the pink neon-lit restaurant while you enjoy barbecued meats and fried chicken Korean style.
Enoteca 28, 11 Grosvenor Lane, Neutral Bay, is open from Tuesday to Saturday for dinner, plus lunch on Fridays and Saturdays. The wine list is carefully chosen and the Italian food is both inventive and delicious. True to Italian tradition, it makes the most of local and seasonal ingredients. It may be a little further away, but it’s worth it for a vegetarian and vegan-friendly Thai restaurant that is a favourite with the locals. The chefs are all native-born Thai, so you know you’re in for an authentic experience. Add an extensive wine, beer and spirits list, and it sounds like a great night out.
